Hi, Howard - Yeah, that's about the situation. I knew Dick, and I know most or all of the people who recorded the song - with oral permission from Dick. As far as I can tell, Dick never registered a copyright on the song. Dick's wife died a short time before he did. She had children, but he apparently did not. -Joe-
