Of course I should have said in Scotland we do have heuchs.. a primeval response to ceilidh music as a form of adding atmosphere. That is entirely different to whooping in a rock, pop or country music concert setting. Loud audience singing when not actually invited to join in, as Ebbie said, can be annoying.
