I thought I wrote it. I saw and heard Archie sing it mid 60s and when I woke in the morning (post a lot of Guinness,)I had remembered all the words...and the guitar accomp. I thought I'd written it in my sleep (bit like McCartney and Yesterday)... When I sang it that night for a pal who had been with me the night before, he put me straight. I did write Lonesome in the Saddle since the horse died and Joe the White linesman for the county.
