I had a call from a friend whose printer wasn't working, and I wish all "repairs" were so easy. Before we started anything I asked him to check the wall plug and then the cables. The cable was loose on the back of the printer; the printer started working (I hadn't gotten him to the point of turning them both off and on again for the "handshake" to be sure the computer sees the printer.)
