Going in the usual research circles. There are lots of cards to add to the PCI-Express slots but most don't require extra power and most don't have great reviews. The powered ones are more expensive and come with the SATA/Molex connecter and are no big deal to set up. I found a review about adding a PCI-Express USB card to a Dell (different motherboard/style) and it talks about using an external powered HUB instead. That's what I already have. It doesn't work for everything, but is ok for keyboard, etc. The better cards that have power sometimes have internal ports. Why? Is there something you can think of that you would put inside the computer that needs a USB port?

I've been under the hood this morning, the WiFi/Bluetooth card is tiny with two wire antennas but easy to reach and work on. I only need to replace the card, and I think at this point I'll stop there, the USB question can wait.

I need to get back to the backup drive running on the router.
