The song "Captain Jinks" was made into a popular musical in 1901. See here: ETHEL BARRYMORE ... who became a Broadway star in 1901 in the new romantic comedy play, “Captain Jinks of the Horse Marines”. In 1902 a couple of books of "Captain Jinks" were released. I guess taking the popularity of music and the character of "Captain Jinks". The tune is used for "Away Away with Rum by Gum [aka The Song of the Salavation Army]" and it is used for the "North Atlantic Squadron" songs.
