It has taken me ages tofind this thread which I started back in 2019.

The.thread about Songs You No Longer Hear in Folk Clubs, prompted me to dig this thread out.

With regards to rebel songs. I can remember one time while over in Ireland for a wedding, being at a family gathering at the home of one of my cousins and Irish rebel songs were being sung. One of my cousins remarked that he felt a bit embarrassed/uneasy with these songs being sung when they had 'English' guests, meaning me and my siblings. This cousin sang the same songs himself. I told him not to worry as I did not think any of the songs were directed at me.

Next time you (or anyone else) are searching just ask a moderator, we can track you down by the IP and connect the guest vs logged-in post dots. ---mudelf
