If its speed weren't finite, I doubt there'd be phenomena like gravity waves; and events viewable in multiple ways ("multi-messanger astronomy" is the current buzzword) also suggest that the speed of different signals (including gravity waves) for the same event travel at light-speed to within limits set by measurement error.
