Re Diddums-in-Chief's diction and voice: I've just realised that his drone, and even more so his ranting, have the wall-breaching properties of a wailing six-month-old brat, which itself arose through natural selection: * The brat which does not wail in a way which will attract the mother's attention is less likely to eventually become a parent; * The mother who does not find the wail annoying, and will therefore respond, is less likely to eventually become a grandmother. So the frequency of a baby's wail, and the most sensitive pitch for the grown-up's ears, have converged. And *that*, mesdames et messieurs, is why I find Diddums's ranting so ear-grating, even with a closed door between me and the telly.
