Useful idiots have always been in political demand. Most of the idiots regret being a tool but Trump has made it pay out. I have enabled Trump by not being a joiner and remaining a relative hermit. It was easy as an only child and retiring early with no ambition for wealth. It seems many Americans are lonely outside of the internet, while camaraderie in clubs like QAnon satisfies the social itch. Young Americans are isolated and depressed. Pubs and churches have changed since the 70s becoming corporate or mega concerns. Cross-cultural activities are becoming rare. Individual echo chambers are common. This all enables authoritarians.
