Wonderful thread -- terrific memories.

Newly graduated from high school, I moved from the Pacific Coast to the Atlantic coast early in the 1960s to continue my education. In the Boston area, I discovered WWVA and the ol' coffee drinkin' nighthawk. I soon found myself listening to Lee Moore (didn't get to hear the Jamboree, because it coincided with my gigs almost every week) almost every night, either driving home from a gig or driving to the next town for the next gig. Late at night, we could listen to WWVA pretty much the entire length of the Massachusetts Turnpike and also the ones in Connecticut.

Several years later, when I travelled with Mr. Monroe as a member of his Blue Grass Boys, I felt surprised we never listened to any music on the road. We sometimes sang together and worked out harmonies but never listened to any other music.

Lots of very nice decades with bluegrass music,

Bob
