I live in the city, so you can imagine our surprise when all these little rabbits turned up in our garden through a hole in the fence. I was about fifteen. I must have been there for an hour one day, just lying there with a piece of carrot in my outstretched hand, totally motionless, just waiting for one of them to trust me enough to take it. I got gradually nearer and more animated until one day, one of them let me stroke its nose, then its body. Soon, they all followed suit. I trained thm to come from wherever they were to be fed when I thumped the floor with my foot (like thumper!) We built a little shelter for them when they got too big to run under the shed when they got scared. Then the biggest one got so big that it couldn't get to us through the fence. We were quite upset until about twenty minutes later when we heard thumping at the garden gate and all the little ones ran over. It had walked around the street and found our house!!! It was crazy. My mum was scared of it, she said it looked at her 'evil'. It flicked wee at her once and she was inconsolable, I was bit worried too, but my dad said that it meant it was attracted to us. Still a worry....

OOne by one, they grew up and went elsewhere, but my mum and dad have still got the photos. That was a brilliant summer.
