I had the privelidge to play on the same bill as Davy Steel (with Ceolbeg in their early years) about nine years ago at a folk weekend in Stranraer. I can assure you he was most supportive and helpfull to me. Later that night we went to a party at my friends house, we sat on the floor and swapped songs for hours, I ran out long before him. Davy polished of the best part of a bottle of Glayva in fine style, Brian reconed it was a small price to pay for such entertainment. My lasting impression of that night was the sheer joy and admiration on the faces of the non-folkies. Make no mistake Davy Steele was a very special person, a superb musician and a very under-rated songwriter. He was every bit as nice as everyone here has previously indicated. There's gonna be some singarounds in heaven from now on, rest in peace Davy. Nynia.
