My 7 year old daughter is often 'visited by the muse'. I have to play guitar while she pours forth endless verses on various heartfelt themes (not all as bad as one might imagine...). I encourage her to sing and write songs, because I like to listen to her and I think it needn't be an exclusively adult occupation. I had been explaining to her that she probably inherited her voice and musical abilities from my paternal grandparents, who were much in demand in their youth at parties (she played piano, he sang). So she launched into a long and very emotional song around the recurring theme of 'when Walter Penney would sing, and Florida would play'. By the time she finnished she was in tears - and I had to keep a very straight face whilst telling her that actually it was Florence, not Florida. So, great idea - but a minor slip in the execution! - Kris
