Kris Lyr Req: two soldiers (7) RE: two soldiers 19 Nov 98

Lee

Rolf Harris sang this one - and here's the bits I remember of it..

Two little boys had two little toys, Each had a wooden horse. Gaily they played, each summer's day, warriors both of course, til one little chap had a mishap, broke off his horse's head; cried for his toy, then laughed with joy, as his young comrade said:

Did you think I would leave you crying, when there's there is room on my horse for two. Climb up here pal, we'll soon be flying off to the ranks so blue. When we grow up we'll both be soldiers and our horses will not be toys and I wonder if we'll remember, when we were two little boys.

Long years passed, war came so fast, .......

.... then there's something about one of them getting shot off of his horse and thinking he's dying etc etc then I think he hears a bugle call or something then his mate comes 'flying, out of the ranks so blue (maybe)' 'Did you think I would leave you dying when there's room on my horse for two - climb up here Joe(?) we'll soon be flying back to the ranks so blue. (then there's somthing about one of them crying) ...something.. or perhaps its the battle noise, but I think its that I remember, when we were two little boys.

Sorry its so bitty, but perhaps it will jog someone elses memory a bit, and you'll end up with the whole thing. If I remember any more, or can dig it out of anyone elses brain, I'll let you know.
