Dunc The Brain Fairy (46) The Brain Fairy 20 May 01

At a midday singaround a few years ago, at the Glenfarg Folk Feast, someone forgot the words of a song that he had been singing for years.
A sound engineer called Ian Clelland voiced the idea of a Brain Fairy.
Working around many festivals he had often observed the Brain Fairy's work.
When festival goers were sleeping off a healthy nights singing and drinking, the Brain Fairy would visit and remove random lines of songs stored in the memory.
In some cases whole songs would vanish or chords to tunes. So effective was the brain Fairy that the victims would have no knowledge of the stolen song parts until they arrived at that embarrassing, stunned silence, mid performance, when no matter what, no words come forth.
Is the Brain Fairy a Scottish phenomenon?
Does it collect more than folk lyrics?
Has it visited you?
