So who's to say the world as we don't know it wouldn't be even better?
Thanks, Bill...I first read that in high school, in Charles Neider's collection of Twain's essays, and I couldn't get off the floor for at least an hour. It's wonderful to find out how it came to be in the form he immortalized. One of my other all-time favorites is "The Awful German Language": "I once heard a university student from Heidelberg say he would rather decline two drinks than one German adjective."
So, does anybody know the science fiction story I mentioned, where people buy tunes to put into their heads?
Aloha, Mark
