DaveJ wash tub bass (28) RE: Help: wash tub bass 24 May 01

It is well worth paying attention to Reggie Miles' previous posts about Dr James Rhythm's bass. It is important to note that this is a very inexpensive solution. The kick bass drum that Dr. James uses was new once, but I'm pretty sure he got it used at a yard sale or Sally's (Salvation Army). I've seen him play many times and he is definitely one of the best. He now lives and plays around Ithaca, NY. Oh, incidentally, he calls his bass a "Low Dow Bass" not a gut-bucket bass or a wash tub bass. (And its not a toy---er maybe it is-but then all instruments are really toys. That's why people play with them!)
