Oversoul Help: Turkish Music On Western Instruments (4) Turkish Music On Western Instruments 10 Jul 01

I have ordered several books on Turkish music theory, Oud primers and some other stuff. My hope is that I can learn some of this beautiful music on my viola and banjo. Although the text of these books is in Turkish, I am assured that the notation is Western, I assume in the treble clef, whatever. I have seen (well, heard) as you have, a wonderful kinship of melodic common denominators. Have any of you tried this? By the way, do any of you play the saz or the oud? Oh yes, I have picked up some chops by ear, but I love etudes. You know, the basic things all students need to get a good grasp.
