GUEST,mike Cahill how was the Jug last night (34) RE: how was the Jug last night 03 Aug 01

I've been asked what I thought about Wed night, To be honest, it was a very good night, considering that Chris and Geraldene, Jane and Geoff, Eric and some others were away on holiday the place was quite full. Most were regulars but with a couple of visiting, or new musicians, I hope they felt that they had been made welcome. The evening was well paced, with a wide range of tunes for all levels of ability, played at a variety of speeds so people could join in, but the music wasn't "dumbed down" in any way. There were gaps between the sets for talking, and people quietened down when the next tune started. There were a lot of boxes, but it will take a while for people with quieter instruments to get the idea that they will be heard, and start to come back. Sam and Andrew from Wakefield went into a huddle over an Accordion Bass pattern, which went right over my head I think they were talking in English, but wouldn't swear to it. Some people who wanted to talk went into the other room for a while, Thank you for the courtesy, but I don't think that anyone felt inhibited. The music was winding down by about 10.45, and people seemed happy enough with the night. Anyone else there have a view?
