Folk Review was a magazine, edited by Fred Woods, in the 70's. It was my education about the revival in England. It was a reliable guide to what and who was good, worth going to see, worth buyng. Fred released two albums, for new subscribers, which were samplers of artists featured on the mag, like Nic, Archie Fisher, and a number of others. Each artist played two songs each and the recordings were exclusive to the album. ?Produced by Fred himself. As far as I can remember Nic recorded two tracks for each album. I don't have them, and have never been able to find them at record fairs (or ebay in recent years). Ralphie listed on the "new CD" thread some tracks, including "Warlike", that I recognised from these recordings and he confirmed that the tracks on the forthcoming CD were indeed the Folk Review recordings. My copies of Folk Review are languishing in a box, in a loft, in a house where I no longer live. I will try to rescue them and see if there is any more info on the recordings in the mag. As Ralphie has got a hold of the masters, unless he remastered them from vinyl, he might have more info.
Love, john
