My mistake Mick, in both instances. I don't even consider Northern Ireland when I'm speaking of things Irish. Not nice of me I know, But that's just the way it is. I only know the Republic as that is where I lived and I only went to the North once and on that occasion I protested to the garda checking cars at the border that I didn't like that soldier pointing that big gun at my head over on the corner and I'd appreciate it if you would tell him to move it. ( The soldier looked to be about 18yrs. old.) The garda turned and looked at the soldier and turned back to me and said, "He can point that gun anywhere he wants." I said "right!" Turned the van around and went back into the Republic. The North ceased to exist in my mind from that moment on. Now, you have gone and reminded me that it is there.
