The chorus from mousethief's version is a direct parody of the Galveston Flood "Mighty Day" that I heard years ago from Barry Kornfeld. Only changes are in last word of the third line, (evening for morning) and the last line, where the Seattle song substitutes "Needle hit the ground" for "storm winds hit the town." The music for the verses must be different, however, because the words of mousethief's Seattle version don't seem to scan into Barry's Galveston one.
I remember last September, Storm Winds hit the town. Women and children were dying, Lord, Death was all around.

It's a really powerful song. Plays great on a 12-string.
