I'll bet a good blues player/singer could make "This Ol' House," "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot," "Wade In The Water," and "Standin' In The Need Of Prayer, " (as well as a number of other gospel songs and spirituals) into blues gospel with no trouble.
I can even hear "Battle Hymn Of The Republic" in my head with the blues harp wailing, as a great gospel blues song.
And how about "Peace In The Valley" and "Were You There?"
A lot is in the feeling and delivery of the artist.
