I have all sorts of weird old habits. I found myself stepping up on the curb around the flower gardens at my office complex last week. As a kid we always walked the curbs when available. Also, in the woods, when there are roots in the trail, I have to say, "Watch out for roots." It would be terrible luck not too. My dad always said that on a steep downhill on the way to the pond for swimming. And, another really weird one. When I was about 8 or 9, my family went on a drive somewhere. We took a neighborhood friend. She taught us, for some reason, whenever we saw an animal, something that sounded like "Ashland Slicker." I don't think even back then we understood why we were doing this but to this day, when I'm driving in the country and see a cow or a horse, I have to say it.
Nutty, I agree with you. I don't feel foolish but I get tickled that these little quirks are still with me.
