It's not music sharing, it's music stealing. Many pro folk musicians now have their own labels and belong to no record companies and don't sell through shops. The c.d. sales they get on gigs keeps them on the road and allows them to be full time. They finance the whole thing themselves. No sooner do they get their freedom from the big boys than people set up systems to steal their work. I know..I've found a site with 40 of my tracks on it for free. Folk music is very cheap to attend..the cds subsidise the artists costs. If fans of the music wish it to continue they have to accept some responsibility towards artists who are doing what they are doing to fulfill a minority audiences needs. For part timers and amateurs who do not make a living from the scene their putting up songs for free is their own business.
