After we finished up the session and got back to Rick and Heather's home I was suddenly worn out. It's been a whirlwind trip, with plenty to do, see and play - culminating in the recording of "Desolation Island" at Millstream. It was a treat to work with my friends Rick and Mick - and to wind up with such a fine result. I have to say that Rick put down some really inspired mandolin tracks! And Mick and I got a full BEEF BROTHERS sort of vocal track for the chorus.
Now begins the journey back to Texas. Karen; what gig did we have? I do not have anything on the calendar??? I expect it is nearly impossible for me to make to Dallas by Fri evening, but I can give it a shot. Leave me some detail here, and I'll call from the road once I'm back in the US. Sorry if I've made a mess of it for you.
Anyway - it's tough to spend much time on Mudcat from someone else's home. I'll be pleased to follow up on this thread next week - but I do have to tell all the Mudcat world how humbled I've been by the hospitality and generosity of Rick and Heather. They've been gracious, kind and long suffering. I also have to tell the world how much I've appreciated Big Mick and his family. I've heard a thousand stories since we left Grand Rapids, and the guy never repeats himself! I also have to admit, I've enjoyed his damn stories! (and I think I've got Mick nearly ready to switch his voting practices - but don't tell him I let on).
See y'all soon ...
