Pete Seeger's book is great: it started me off on banjo. Its weakness is that it covers a lot of styles with not much depth, so its best use is to help you find what style you want to pursue,and give you an understanding of how the characteristic sounds are made. When you know what you want to do I'd get a book specialising in that style, and get the right hand technique sorted for one style before trying another.
By clicking on the User Name, you will requery the forum for that user. You will see everything that he or she has posted with that Mudcat name.

* Click on the linked number with * to view the thread split into pages (click "d" for chronologically descending).
By clicking on the Subject, you will also go to the thread as if you selected it from the original Forum page, but also go directly to that particular message.
By clicking on the Date (Posted), you will dig out every message posted that day.
