Apologies to those who don't like this sort of thread, but I enjoyed the ones about bread-makers, so I hope this one is OK.

Anyway, me and my hubby have been somewhat suduced by the performances of steam cleaners on the shopping channels.

The ones they sell cost $300 or so.

We've come across a steam cleaner for $40 in a local store. OK, it doesn't have the bells and whistles, but surely steam is steam?

Or is a $40 steam cleaner gonna be junk?

Any ideas?
