While we're busy parodying the Notre Dame fight song, I thought I'd resurrect this classic, from an old Mad magazine feature titled something like "Anthems for Lesser Known School Sports Teams." It went: Cheer, cheer for our Scrabble squad They fill the board with words that are odd Adz and xebec, zax and qua Zarf and quinoa, pix and ka Jato and furzy, os, ot and ugh Zygote and baba, yoohoo and vug They know every word except the one that spells VICTORY! How on earth I still remember that ridiculous ditty after 35 years or so is one of life's little mysteries. But to this day, I still have trouble watching Notre Dame teams on TV without cracking up every time the band starts to play.
