John, my point is that you can have a network and see a computer using network neighbourhood regardless of whether any files or drives are shared or not. Of course if you open up that computer in network neighbourhood and try to view any files you see nothing. This happens to be the way my network is set up as it suits both of us to know that any file we wish to share goes in one place.

JP, where do you set enable file print sharing? I do it on the bindings on the TCP/IP settings for the network card (but certainly not on the TCP/IP settings for my dial up adaptor).

Thinking on the IP addresses, I think it was one (or more) of the internet sharing programs I tried that required them setting.
