[When the kindly joe clone deleted the first (badly formatted) post, the background info on the song also got deleted, so here it is.] -------------------

The NW Regional Folklife Festival celebrated its 25th anniversary in 1996, and past performers were invited to compose and perform an original song in honor of the occasion at that year's festival. This was my tribute to the festival.
The last line of the chorus was originally: "...everybody dancin' their way till the break of dawn.
When I started going to Folklife in 1997, it WAS that way, what with multiple after parties and with the participant's party going on till the wee hours at a private home or, later, at the Monroe Center. Then we'd go out for breakfast before finally hitting the sack.
As the festival grew larger [and so many of us grew older], the participants' party moved onto the Seattle Center or the Mountaineers venue, and things just weren't the same. I hope some of the younger folkies are carrying on the tradition of partying all night, but for many of us, those days are a memory.
Even though I changed the 'official' line to "...everybody dancin' their way as the beat goes on," I still prefer the "...till the break of dawn" version.
