I grew up in the 60s and early 70s with a Niles songbook on the piano. I learned to play several of the tunes and even liked a few of them. But for most of those years my varying gods were the Beatles, the Gershwins, Pete Seeger and Doc Watson. As for Niles, in my rapidly advancing middle age -- the words "egotistical crap" come to mind.
