GUEST,Dale I believe you're right in believing that Paddie Bell was the first to record the song. I have the album somewhere at home but I don't think it was ever released on the Waverley label. Waverley may have ceased operation by the time the album was released. It is my understanding that Gordon Smith was the brother of Bill Smith, a founding member of the Corries, and that he wrote the song for a TV program.
