I would like to clear up the confusion of these messages. There are two songs titled "As I Roved Out". One is the traditional ballad correctly and most eloquently described by "dterrel". The other is the more lighthearted tune which is similar to "P for Paddy". The lyrics are "Who are you me pretty fair maid, and who are you me honey," or something like that. I can give you basic guitar chords for both.
dm C G C
As I roved out one bright May morning
F em dm G
To view the meadows and flowers gay
F em G dm
When whom should I spy but my own true lover
F G
As she sat under yon apple tree.
am G
Who are you me pretty fair maid
am em
and who are you me honey
am G
Who are you me pretty fair maid
am em
and who are you me honey
am em
She answered me cheerfully
G D7
I am me mammy's daughter
am G
with my too rye ah fuddle diddle da
em G D am
and nancy-toodle ma derry-o.
Please note that these are not perfect as I did the chords out of my head - that goes for the words as well. If you need anything more post me a request. I also find that playing these songs on guitar sounds much better in DADGAD tuning - have a go! (I play them myself on Mandolin)
