Dear Bullfrog Jones, Normally use of the type of pick you describe is only to be recommended for guitars containing a Rare Earth. An ice-pick will certainly look cool on stage and may also be a useful accessory for a backpacker guitar but I doubt its efficacy as a strumming implement in general. I think the best course of action would be for you to purchase a gross of tooth picks which are cheap, plentiful and less cumbersome to hold. Yours sincerely, Dr. Guitar
