Depends on whether you want a piece of wood to carve your own or a pre-made neck---and even the premade necks can be purchased at different levals of work already done--the fitting of the neck heel to the rim I would think to be the most difficult. Try First Quality Musical instruments-- they used to offer banjo neck wood or partially manufactured necks.
