Seems like an old thread, but what the heck,... I heard this song by Tina Mulrooney as she sat playing harp at the Cliffs of Moher, Co Claire, Ireland. The song appears on her album 'Memory Of Ireland' as The Soldier's Farewell. I don't come any better. Roger Fullilove Her lyrics are:- TONIGHT IS OUR LAST NIGHT TOGETHER One day as I strolled by the banks of the Boyne Some soldiers were going away There was one soldier lad with his pale face so sad To his sweetheart these words he did say CHORUS Tonight is our last night together When the nearest and dearest must part But a soldier may roam to the ends of this world With his thoughts on his loving sweetheart. Let us go take a stroll through the meadow Where we first fell in love you and I Where you taught me to love you, dear Molly Kiss me and bid me goodbye Repeat chorus And as he went into the battle Wounded and dying he lay But his last dying wish for dear Molly Was his country, his mother and you Repeat chorus
