Page was infamous for ripping off folk revival versions of stuff and putting his own name on them. Bert Jansch sued Led Zeppelin for abuse of his arrangement of "Blackwaterside" (I think he won, but don't know for sure). Led Zep's rendition of "Gallows Pole" is Leadbelly's done electrified. I'd be willing to bet Jimmy Page was a bit more than "inspired" by Davey Graham's version... |
