In 1992 Bob was involved in a road accident while on his way to a gig, he was a back seat passenger and was very severely injured, his fiddle (his favorite) was smashed to smithereens. He wasn't expected to survive. When he did come round, his first words were an enquiry as to the wholeness and whereabouts of his best fiddle. They don't make em like that anymore :-)
