Orac | Folklore: two first names-no surname? (27) | RE: two first names-no surname? | 25 Nov 02 |
Its always been common for Scottish clan names to be used as first names. Sometimes for both like MacDonald Macdonald. I'm sure there must have been a Cameron Cameron before now too. So the thread could have been "Two surnames - no first name". Anyone remember MacDonald Hobley on the TV. Shirley is a surname and only became a female first name in 1929. (The first to be given Shirley as a first name were male) |
