I did exactly the same as you M.Ted. Flitted from my first love (which was folk and writing songs), to reggae, country, anything that would make some money. Finally wound up in an Irish Social Club band, which believe me is soul destroying (There's only so many times you can play the 'Fields of Athenry) . Gave it all up about 3 years ago and the song writing has come back...but I'm 42 now. Don't know if I have the heart or the enthusiasm anymore to do anything about it. That's what I regret.
