This Christmas I will be home, with my son, his wife and my daughter visiting. Last year it was the same, but they ended up having an argument and things got sticky. It's such an emotionally charged time and I know that my daughter feels at these times that she hasn't got her life together as much as some of us, but I love them all and I refuse to stop having us all together because one year it didn't work so well. A friend of mine suggested I should invite somebody we don't know so well who has nowhere to go for Christmas and their presence might make my son and daughter feel they have to be on their best behaviour and inhibit them from saying inflammatory things. I'm just glad I've got a family. My daughter in law is expecting a baby next year too, so in a few months I will be a grandma! I consider my friends in the folk scene to be my family, also, so I feel lucky!
