Ewan McVicar Ian, Bert & Frank - re your Nonsense songs (7) RE: Ian, Bert & Frank - re your Nonsense songs 08 Jun 99

Ian and Bert – many thanks. Superb information.
I recall when young singing 'Chase me Charlie, chase me Charlie, over the garden wall' to a sweet waltz tune. I'd assumed it to be a music hall song.
The Opies only give 'Chase me Charlie' as the name of a chasing game (a name for 'Touch' in Ipswich, when played in the water.)
There is more to found out about this.
Ian, although I've played backup guitar for fiddlers in ceilidh bands and such many a time I've not knowledge of which Irish fiddler is / was which. What sort of dates would pertain to Denis Murphy?
Bert , what did you dance to the tune The Cock of the North? It is a march of course, so would fit for quadrilles and circle dances and parade dances and such.
