The ranks are certainly getting thinner in bluegrass' patriarch generation. Jim was a fine singer and class act; perhaps overshadowed by his innovative brother. But, handling the melody in memorable brother-harmonies, he gave us "Hard Hearted," "Sweet Little Miss Blue Eyes," "Freight Train," "Diesel on my Tail," "Ole Slewfoot," "Are You Missing Me?" and hundreds of other vintage bluegrass tunes. What is Jesse to do? Imagine brothers so close they work together nearly every night for over 50 years, marry sisters and buy adjoining farms. "There's a better home a-waiting..."
