I enjoy my mandolin. Still more to learn, but I can make MUSIC on it! Can't take it as fast as it can go, but within the limits of my 7 months training I can make music. It is a great feeling when I get it, everything clicks, and it is a song I'm playing not just some disconnected notes. I need to find someone to play with though so I can get chord practice. chords don't make a song for me alone, but in lessions when I play them and my instructer does melody they do add to the song.
Once in a while I pick up recorder, the old plastic alto one from second grade that I've not yet learned, and probably never will. An the old Saw blade, but I need more practice. Interesting interserments, but I need moreparctice.
I'm among the select few that can play the spoons. If more people were willing to even try, more people would play them. Next time your at a party of non-folkies pick up the sppons and start playing them, you will see what I mean.
