GIRL OF DANCES (Dransfields)

Playing games to hide our faces
Where you my girl dances
I know where I'll find you
I know where to find you
Rising late it's hard to start and
With a smile you learn too soon
Making new day resolutions
Forgotten in the afternoon

Refrain
I hear them say that you're a wanderer
Hear them say your heart's astray
But this is your all my girl of dancing
Don't let them take it away

Oh the day goes out in red/gold gazes
Where you my girl dances
I know where I'll find you
I know where to find you
In the cafe all night siting
With laughter rising to the moon
Making plans for summer madness
Forgotten in the afternoon

Refrain

On my bed the moon and stars
Where my girl dances
I know where I'll find you
I know where to find you
Dreaming again of country revels
Of stone cold floors and flowers in June
Brass and buckles in the morning
Among the hunt in the afternoon

Refrain

Uneven players miss their chances
Where you my girl dances
I know where I'll find you
I know where to find you
By the window you are sitting
I wonder where your smile has flown
Was it someone in the morning
Forgot you in the afternoon

Refrain

This was first recorded on the very rare (and expensive) Polydor Folk Mill album 'Barry Dransfield' (Polydor 2383 160) in 1972

This track was re issued on the 'Up to Now' double cd (Free Reed FRCD 18) which is still available (and a lot cheaper)
