Banjer Review: The Band of the Grenadier Guards (1) The Band of the Grenadier Guards 16 Mar 03

My wife and I went to the local showing of the Band of the Grenadier Guards and The Pipes and Drums of the Scots Highlanders. It was an excellent evening of good music! We saw the Blackwatch about four years ago and I can't decide who had the better show! Not only was their music superb but their cadence and drill was without flaw. Everything right to the numbers! Using what small stage they had available and still manuevering the entire band with such precision took a lot of discipline! If ever they get within range of where you are, I would highly recomend going to see them!

They also had an 8 man dance team doing the Highland Fling and the Sword Dance. What skill and grace they demonstrated!!

As usual, the playing of Amazing Grace as a bagpipe solo brought the tear to the eye. That song always has that effect on me, and then when th entire pipe band picked up the chorus and accented by the drums, what a joyful noise!!!

Wouldn't have missed it for the world!
