I've never been to Winfield, but I have heard some great things about it. It is an important contest festival. Some of the greatest pickers you've never heard will show up and compete. I made it to our most local festival (geographically speaking). The Live Oak Festival jsut occurred two weeks ago. Now I'm saving my pennies to go to Millpond in September. It is my favorite in that it is small and is in a great location. (Bishop, CA - the Eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada).
