Sham, the point about the saying "timeo Danaos, et dona ferentes" is that "et" is a power qualifier in this context, so you can start a nice argument about whether the point is to beware of Greeks "even" when they are bearing gifts, or to beware of Greeks "particularly" when they are bearing gifts. The latter gives more dramatic irony, and almost calls to mind the young lady who went out with Oscar Wilde and did not know which way to turn.
